We want to know that the little things are little, and the big things big, before it is too late; we want to see things now as they will seem forever-- "in the light of eternity."
浙江大学版本：我们希望了解事情的轻重缓急以避免本末倒置；希望眼中的世界恒定如常，仿佛照耀在“永恒的光束下”；

解析

这句话还是继续补充第五句中的“decipher our own souls”。在烦乱的世界里，我们想知道很多，想知道永恒，想知道本质，想知道确定性……

又来吐槽下翻译，为什么这里又变成分号了呢？明明有个句号呀。
1、the little things are little, and the big things big， before it is too late
重言式，用于讲深刻话语
YKYK：we want to know what earth is earth， and human human， before it is too late 。
before it is too late 用来加深前面重言式的所强调的东西。

2、passing (第6句)-- too late -- forever -- eternity
前后对比，在转瞬即逝中想看到永恒。哲学就是这么抽象。

趁为时不晚，我们想知道小事是小的，大事是大的；我们想现在看事情就如它们永恒所看起来的那样——“永恒的光”。
